September 28 – October 2, 2020

Kathy’s schedule this week

Out of office Monday, Tuesday and Thursday
In office Wednesday, Friday and Saturday

A Housekeeping Reminder

We’re busier at the club now which means more small gatherings for meetings, cards and other games.  Please remember to clean up the area that you have used when finished  and take any trash out with you
as we no longer have garbage service during this time.
Thank you for your help.

Announcing the Bizarre Bazaar
October 2 – November 22

Since we can’t have a DWC Bazaar (which was so successful and fun last year) or even a Country Store we will have a Bizarre Bazaar in 2020.

I am asking DWC members to contribute an art or craft item, baked goods, canned goods, an experience, or other marketable item over the next few weeks. Friends might consider making up a basket like we did in previous years and make the baskets a part of this event. How about a COVID basket?
What would you put in it?
Whatever you decide email me with the item (with a suggested value) and if possible take a photo of it with your cell phone or tablet.

I will be putting 4-5 items up for bidding every week through Mail Chimp every Sunday. Photos and items will be on the DWC website, Facebook and Instagram.

There will be one week to bid and highest bidders get the item. More items will be put up the next week and so on. The bazaar will begin October 4 and run through November 22. My committee will notify the winners each week and set up pick up and delivery and payment by check.
Here are examples: Gourmet dinner by Marissa Hoogenakker, Mah Jongg lessons, seasonal wreaths and swags, watercolor lessons by me, or even “how much would you pay not to make 12 dozen cookies?”
We won’t make thousands of dollars but we can make hundreds of dollars to keep the heat on and pay the taxes. It might even be FUN! I want to see some COVID baskets!
Start thinking now and email me those ideas,
Thanks, Rosemary Guttormsson,

Camera Club to explore Antenna Farm Trail: October 1

All are welcome to join the DWC Camera Club as we kick off October
by exploring the Antenna Farm trail, which overlooks Duluth with breathtaking views. We will meet on Thursday, October 1 at 2 pm just off 8th Avenue West and 9th Street. Completed a couple of years ago, the Antenna Farm is part of the Duluth Traverse system
of multi-use mountain biking trails. Truly an urban hiking gem.
Here’s a link to a news story about the trail:–5131014.html
From West Skyline Parkway, turn up the hill on 8th Avenue West.
Go up the hill and take a right on 9th Street.
Go about a half block to the trail access on the right.

“The trees are clapping for me” – Aubrey Joy Lampi, 3 years old, as told to her grandmother Rolene. The fall leaves were rustling and trees swaying in the breeze; Aubrey was learning to swing, and I clapped for her and so did the leaves.
