Week of September 6 – 10, 2021

You won’t want to miss our participation in the Alzheimer’s Association’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s to raise funds and awareness for care, support and research on Saturday, September 11. Registration is easy! Use the following link to the DWC team page to register for the walk or make a donation for our fundraising efforts: https://act.alz.org/site/TR?team_id=704350&pg=team&fr_id=14575. Our team goal is $1,000. Every dollar you donate helps the Alzheimer’s Association provide care and support to those facing Alzheimer’s and other dementia as well as advance critical research.
We’ll plan to meet behind the DECC at 1:30. The opening ceremony begins at 2:00 pm with the walk following immediately. If you’re not walking, meet there to cheer us on if you’d like. Be sure to wear your DWC shirts and/or sweaters so people know who we are. And after the walk is complete join us at the DWC club house at 4:00 pm for refreshments and a social time.

Mark your calendars for Friday, September 10 at noon for a picnic on the terrace and in the sunroom to celebrate the beginning of a new year at DWC! There won’t be a program so you can greet and get reacquainted with friends and meet and get to know newer members. Lunch will cost $20, and menu options are a ham, cream cheese and cucumber sandwich with fruit or a chicken Caesar salad. Please call or email Kathy LaTour (klatour@duluthwomansclub.comno later than noon on Tuesday, Sep 7 to reserve your spot and let her know what you’d like to eat. Look forward to seeing all of you there!

Cabi’s fall fashions will be on full display at the Fashion Showcase Happy Hour on Thursday afternoon and evening, Oct 7 from 4-7 pm!
Sip wine and other beverages and nibble on finger food as you browse the racks. We’re holding this event at a later time in the day so some of our still-working members and trial members can attend. Clothes are available to try on, and Julie Dowd, our Cabi fashion specialist, will be on hand to help with sizing and putting together outfits you’ll love to wear to DWC events. A portion of the sales will be donated to the
DWC operating fund.

Enger Park Photo Walk: Wednesday, September 9

The fall leaf watch begins! Let’s meet at Enger Park on Wednesday, September 8 at 1 p.m. We will explore the trails around the tower and climb to the top of the tower for sweeping views of our beautiful area. The trails through the woods are uneven; time for our sturdier hiking shoes. There’s also a new extension of the Superior Hiking Trail we can explore. And let’s not forget the gardens and plenty of places to sit, relax and solve the world’s problems! The forecast is grand, and I’m looking forward to catching up.

Please wear a mask at the club with the exception of eating and drinking
