Week of March 28 – April 1, 2022

 March 30, 2022

It seems spring has not yet sprung! It’s still snowing and the walks and driveway at the DWC have not been plowed. We’ll cancel this afternoon’s Cabi Fashion Showcase and open tomorrow morning at 10 with extended shopping hours until 5. You’ll not want to miss Cabi’s fashions designed to take us from spring into summer! Come tomorrow with your credit card and checkbook and see what your friends are buying. Early birds can munch on breakfast pastries and have a cup of coffee. Later shoppers can snack on cheese and fruit and enjoy a glass of wine. Questions? Please call or email Pam Williams….pamelarwilliams52@gmail.com or 202-352-8168

“Almost Man: A Return to Churchill”
by Char Taylor

The Inuit people call the polar bear Na’nuq, the Master of Bears. They believe he is powerful, mighty and “almost man.” After taking a year off in 2019 to visit Svalbard, and a postponement in 2020 due to COVID, Char returned to Churchill, Manitoba in November 2021, to see her bears. Come and share her adventure and see why the polar bear is “almost man.”
Please have your reservations in on Wednesday. Gluten-free available. For reservations please call or email Pam Williams (202-352-8168 or pamelarwilliams52@gmail.com)

Watch This Space

Spring is in the air, and now is the time to start thinking about purchasing a few items for your wardrobe! Once again, we will host our Cabi specialist, Julie Dowd, who will feature her new spring line. To make it easy for you to shop, we’re offering two times…. Wednesday, March 30 from 4 pm to 7 pm and Thursday, March 31 from 10 am to 1 pm. Come once or both times for a glass of wine and hors d’oeuvres on Wednesday afternoon and coffee and breakfast sweets on Thursday morning. We all need a little retail therapy after our northland winter! Please call or email Pam Williams (202-352-8168 or pamelarwilliams52@gmail.com) with any questions you may have. No reservations are necessary, but masks and vaccinations are required

Membership Initiative

Women students at St Scholastica asked if we are interested in a mentoring program…. they think of the DWC as an inspirational organization, want to get to know us better and learn how to navigate career paths from professional women. We will host a meet and greet on Tuesday, April 12 from 5-7 pm at the club. We will serve coffee, tea and light snacks. Please come to meet and chat with these women. Call or email Pam Williams (202-352-8168 or pamelarwilliams52@gmail.com) to attend.
